Welcome

I provide a warm, accepting space for people to explore what matters to them and what’s getting in their way. I help my clients learn to feel more comfortable with their emotions, to experiment with different ways of relating to their thoughts and feelings, to cultivate resilience, and to develop the self-trust and self compassion that will support them along their paths.

I am particularly interested in working with young adults, people navigating times of transition or loss, and people struggling to find purpose and meaning in their lives. I welcome anyone who feels I may be a good fit.

About Me

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I got my MSW from the University of Washington School of Social Work in 2003. After working in community mental health for several years, I decided to return to school to get a law degree, and earned a JD from the University of Washington School of Law in 2009. I learned a great deal in law school including, ultimately, that I didn't want to be a lawyer. After practicing law briefly, I returned to clinical social work. After four more years in community mental health, I spent six years working in a mental health clinic at the University of Washington before starting my own practice.

As a therapist, I use an integrative approach, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. I work flexibly to align with my clients' goals session-by-session.  I listen, offer observations, highlight themes and patterns that arise, and teach new skills. Sometimes people may want to explore experiences from their past, and sometimes they may prefer to focus on the present or future. I don't believe there is a "right" way to do therapy or to live a life. I'm here to to listen, to be curious and encourage curiosity, to help my clients discover what works for them and what doesn't, and to cheer them along.

My therapy practice is grounded in principles of social justice and anti-racism. I am engaged in ongoing education and consultation to ensure I provide competent, affirming care to all of my clients. I work to explore and remain aware of my own intersecting identities, the way they influence my work, and the way they influence the way it feels for clients to sit with me. I welcome questions and feedback about my approach.

Services and Fees

I provide individual therapy to clients located in Washington State through telehealth using a HIPAA compliant, secure video platform. I provide limited in-person therapy in Seattle.

I offer scheduling that is flexible to fit your needs and goals. Together, we can decide which is right for you. You may be interested in regular weekly or every-other-week sessions. For those who are interested in a more flexible approach, I also offer "one-session-at-a-time" scheduling, meaning that you can schedule sessions online at your own pace whenever you are interested in coming in to check in.

Initial Consultation

To help us figure out if we may be a good fit, I offer free, 20 minute consultations by video or phone. During this conversation, I will ask about your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals, and you will be able to ask me any questions you have about me or my practice. If we decide we might work well together, we will schedule an initial session. If not, I can provide you some other resources to help you continue with your search.
